St. Andrew's State Park

For Labor Day we went to Tyndall AFB to see our old neighbor from F.E. Warren. Tropical Storm Lee spent the weekend with us. We stayed in a 3 bedroom house on base. It was very nice. On Friday we went out to dinner and then drove to Panama City Beach to check out the sites.
Then on Saturday I ran in the morning and for lunch we drove to Mexico Beach. We ate at Toucan's. When we first got there the rain was really coming down but by the time we ate it stopped for a while so we could enjoy the beach. The waves were really powerful for the tropical storm. I didn't get in with Calvin but Brian, Pete and Clara did. That night we went back down to Panama City Beach and went to Pier Park. We walked across the Pier and watched the waves and fisherman.
On Sunday it was really raining out. I made a chicken dinner for lunch and enjoyed the rain. In the afternoon we drove to St. Andrew's State Park. There we went to another Pier, saw an alligator, some cranes and heron and dolphins. The fisherman were feeding the birds fish and that was fun to see. We also saw several dolphins off the pier. They were close enough we could hear the noise they made when they came up for air. Clara thought that was neat. It was a really beautiful park. Then we went back to our room and had dinner and watched a movie.
Monday we walked out to the base beach. It was a 10 min walk on a boardwalk. The wind was really heavy. So by the time we got to the beach we were getting sand blasted. The waves were really violent. Clara would have stayed all day if you let her and Calvin cried and wanted to get out of the blowing sand. The beach was beautiful the sand was white, a lot of sea oats were growing in the dunes and the water had really large crashing waves. We walked back to the car and had lunch with Pete at the Golden Coral. We headed back around 3. The kids were tired they slept most of the way home. They later didn't want to go to bed. Both Clara and I woke up last night confused on where we were. Both kids didn't sleep very well last night.
Clara and Calvin both really liked Pete. Clara wanted to sit by him when we ate hold his hands in the Parking lot. I am sure it helped he provided Clara with a few types of cookies. Pete helped Clara wash her hands and later she told me no Pete says to wash your hands and up to your elbows. Clara told Brian she can hear German under water. She has really been into wanting to know words in other languages and making some up. She told us that Calvin deaded her laptop instead of broke it.
Calvin had fun crawling and cruising around anything he could. He was happy when he wasn't in the car seat. He is getting a little big for the front pack but it worked great for this trip. He has been saying Mama and Dada and a lot of other gerbish. He is a really happy baby. He enjoyed crawling around in the sand. Pete wanted to know why he kept trying to eat it. Pete looked like he was going to puke when Calvin would take a handful and jam it in his mouth. Calvin stopped after a while. He enjoyed tearing down the sand castles Brian and Clara made.
Jasmine Stayed at the pet hotel. She was happy to see me when I picked her up this morning.
We had a great trip it was nice to get away for the long weekend. We enjoyed visiting Pete. He was a great tour guide.
